Supporting Akron Artists

The primary mission of Direct Current is to support artists from the Akron area. We manage a community space where artists can gather, present their work, collaborate, and engage with a diverse community of creative minds. Our programs support musical artists, visual artists, writers, and other members of the creative community.

Community space:  Our community space also houses the Electric Company recording studio, giving local musicians access to professional recording equipment and the expertise of experienced music-production professionals.

Grants:  In addition to supporting the operation and development of these community spaces, Direct Current administers a grant program that provides financial assistance to musicians who need support with recording projects. Direct Current accepts grant applications biannually. Applications are reviewed by Direct Current’s Board of Directors along with two rotating members of the local arts community.
